entrance: Sudanese secretary chicken The present nationwide emblem of Sudan was adopted in 1985. It reveals a secretary chicken bearing a defend from the time of Muhammad Ahmad, the self-proclaimed Mahdi who briefly dominated Sudan within the nineteenth century. Two scrolls are positioned on the arms; the higher one shows the nationwide motto, An-nasr lanā النصر لنا (“Victory is ours”), and the decrease one shows the title of the state, جمهورية السودان Jumhūriyat as-Sūdān (“Republic of the Sudan”).
The coat of arms can be the Presidential seal and is present in gold on the flag of the President of Sudan and on the automobiles carrying the President and at his residence. The secretary chicken was chosen as a distinctively Sudanese and indigenous variant of the “Eagle of Saladin” and “Hawk of Quraish” seen within the emblems of some Arab states, and related to Arab nationalism (see Coat of arms of Egypt, and so on.).
